Training Program for Compliance Officers
This program has been designed to provide a dynamic educational alternative to those professionals who wish to strengthen their training, boost their career, and become innovative Compliance Officers.
Aimed at compliance liaisons in the non-financial and non-bank financial sectors, who already perform these tasks or are preparing to do so. Our Training Program for Compliance Officers is based on practice, the learning provided by case analysis, and hands-on experience in each regulated sector. Training with the SIJUSA quality seal.
Addressed to: Lawyers, Accountants, companies in the real estate, construction, and property sectors, and the non-financial sector in general.

Methodology
Duration:
3 months. 50 hours (40 hours of theory and 10 hours of activities). 3 sessions per module, for a total of 18 sessions.
Virtual synchronous classes via Zoom.
Asynchronous sessions through our educational platform, MLC Academy, with online content the student can access using their credentials to deepen their knowledge (credentials are sent after formalizing registration).
Virtual class schedules:
Asynchronous sessions: Wednesdays, material released at 6:00 PM.
Synchronous sessions: Saturdays from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM.

Modules
1. Introduction to compliance. Regulatory framework
This module will allow you to to know the laws and standards that govern regulatory compliance in the Republic of Panama, reviewing local sector regulations and providing participants with advice and best practices in their application
Questions we will address
- What are the obligations established in the existing regulations?
- What criteria are applicable to each aspect of these obligations?
- How to properly structure work plans to meet each obligation
- Why controls and processes should be implemented in the execution of the Compliance Program
You will learn this and more in this first introductory module
2. Prevention and Compliance Management
In this module We will explore the most frequent reputation-related risksFinancial crimes, money laundering, corruption, and lack of due diligence towards counterparties such as clients, suppliers, and employees
Compliance management, in essence, must measure risk according to business area and thus design control mechanisms to mitigate them
We will address
- Criteria for risk identification
- Applying these criteria to your company's business environment
- Differences between analyzing the profiles of customers, employees, and suppliers
- How to address the various aspects of compliance when evaluating mitigating factors
3. Compliance Program Overview
In this module you will learn to design a work plan that includes both the essential activities of the compliance areasuch as the mechanisms to measure their effectiveness
Compliance officers must have tools, plans, and strategies for their daily management so that they can meet weekly, monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual requirements.
With this module you will achieve
- Identify the obligations that apply to your area of business
- Identify strategies to ensure compliance within deadlines
- Differentiate and assign program responsibilities
- Understanding how the tracking is done
4. Risk, Ethics and Compliance
In this module, we teach you what you need to know to effectively plan and execute your compliance program, implementing controls that protect your organization.
We will study the international COSO and ISO systems for risk management, focusing on its fundamental principles and its practical application in business risk assessment, in collaboration with the audit and systems areas.
Upon completion you will achieve:
- To delve deeper into what a Code of Ethics is and what the advantages are of having one in your organization
- Identify whether your company has clearly established the main responsibilities of each key position.
- Understanding whether the risks that occur internally in your organization, beyond those related to the business, have been adequately identified.
5. Specialization Module
In the specialization module We will analyze standards, best practices, and recommendations to adapt our Compliance Management to the current challenges in this area, and we will see how each sector of the Non-Financial Obligated Entities must have a specific work plan for its area based on the obligations that correspond to it by law.
6. Technological tools
This module addresses How to overcome compliance management challenges through the strategic use of technological tools.
The use of technology is key to ensuring that the organization's objectives remain clear to the entire team, and that they can also know the percentage of compliance achieved and yet to be achieved, turning compliance management into a competitive business advantage.
We will explore the importance of:
- Databases containing customer/supplier information
- Use of digital platforms to facilitate your team's work
- Keep records up to date to always be prepared for a possible inspection
